Wednesday Morning

I have a few minutes while we drive to our school this morning so I wanted to get a quick update posted. Yesterday was a good day, it was hot but we were able to spend the day mostly in the shade. We spent the hottest part of the day at an elementary school working with the kids playing games, doing crafts, making Costa Rican snow cones (which are very good) and some of the girls were giving hand massages to the teachers. The school is too small for all the grades to attend school at the same time so we started the day with first, third and fifth grade students. Then we had lunch to reload some much needed energy. Shortly after lunch round two started with second, fourth and sixth graders and the team went through the entire program a second time. One of the last things the team does is their skit depicting the crucification and resurrection of Christ. After the skit the missionary would explain to the students what the skit meant and after the second group watched and then heard what the skit meant they asked to see it again. As tired as they were the team gladly did it again and the students were watching them intently, it was truly a great inspiration to the team. The team did a great job and after they finished they received very high praise from the missionary for doing such a good job. I will put up more photos later today if I am able to get a hotspot again.

Some of our team give hand massages to the teachers while the rest of the team gives them a break from their students.

This little girl that Lyndsey is hugging is Maria! She is one of the friendliest and most outgoing of the kids we have met so far. If you were to see her amongst her class mates you might notice that she stands out. Compared to her classmates she has blonde hair and her skin is much lighter in tone. We learned from her teacher that she is not a Costa Rican but she is actually from Nicaragua. Her parents are migrant workers on a farm that is located just 1 1/2 miles from the school. Maria wants to learn so much that she walks by herself 1 1/2 miles to and from school each day.

  1. We continue to pray for all of you! God knows where He wants you to go and who you are to meet. It looks like you are meeting some wonderful kids and have been a great blessing to them!

  2. Debby, I see you’re getting to talk to people in Spanish. Talking and Spanish; your two favorite things! Have fun!
