Every Thursday at lunchtime, the Costa Rica team members on the Xenia campus get together for lunch and to practice whatever Spanish language they can muster.  Our team members include several kids who have never spoken Spanish before (and are actually taking French), several who take Spanish currently, others who have had it in the past, and one student who grew up in Latin America.  So the spectrum is broad, but everyone enthusiastically participates to the best of their abilities. The last two weeks have dealt with money and shopping and knowing how to exchange dollars for colones.

Meeting #3

Mr. Harr, our leader for team-building activities, was unable to be with us this afternoon.  However, he had instructed his replacement, Sarah Graver, to lead on in spite of his absence, and so she did.  Yes, we learned some more on how to work together, and yes, we learned who can and who cannot catch a tennis ball.

We specifically worked on the games that we plan to use for VBSs with Costa Rica children. Having veterans on our team is a huge blessing as they remember what worked well and what did not work at all this last January there.

Miss Clements directed the meeting and relayed to each their prayer and Bible study partner.  Each team member is also assigned a number and travel group, so that we will never get lost :) (Lord willing).

We also learned at this meeting that not only is Mrs. Panosian an excellent and generous hostess, but she's also a great photographer.  Thank you for your help with our team photo.

Meeting #2 at the Panosians

On 11/09/2011, the team met for a second time to see what various committees have come up with for crafts, games, music, and other vacation Bible school projects to take with us to Costa Rica. Mr. Harr led us in a team-building activity that tested the strength of both one finger each and one brain each. I think we succeeded. We also have seen the Lord begin to bring in funds for various team members, for which we thank the Lord.

We will be starting a study in the book of 1st Peter, and next time we meet, we will be divided into prayer partners. But that doesn't stop us from praying right here and now!

Please pray with us as we plan for the ministry opportunities and as we look for all the funds necessary for travel and projects.

Welcome!

Bienvenidos.

The Dayton Christian School System provides the opportunity for high school students to participate in short-term missions trips during the month of January.  One of these upcoming adventures includes ministry in Costa Rica with LaMar and Joanna Salley who work there in church planting, internships, and children and youth ministries.

LaMar Salley visits the campus and has
lunch with Miss Clements, Mrs. Reilly,
and graduates Cole and Seung.
The 2012 travelers will include ten Xenia Christian students, two Dayton Christian students, and four leaders from Xenia Christian.  Several of these team members are especially excited because they had their first chance to participate in the Costa Rica work last year or because they have lived and worked in that country as missionaries.
